Hot Pilates

Hot Pilates, founded by Shannon Nadj, is one of our favorite workouts in LA. It’s a hot, hard, and sweaty workout. From Shannon’s intense sculpting classes to her powerful body toning sessions, she has formulated the ultimate heat infused workout. Rooted in the classics of pilates, infused with her own modern touch, Hot Pilates is heated to 95 degrees. You definitely get a super good sweat, the benefits of detoxing, and a really amazing stretch for your muscles.

While the heat isn't for everybody, if you’re someone who likes to get drenched, this is the spot for you. Shannon recently opened a Brentwood Studio, along with her OG spot in West Hollywood. Here are some Shannons tips to get in a glowy workout.

5 TIPS FOR A HOT WORKOUT

1) Hydration Is Key.

The most important thing you can do for your skin (and in turn, your body) is to hydrate. I recommend drinking 8-16 ounces of electrolyte water or coconut water daily to replenish your body. The sodium and potassium will help you avoid dehydration and the surrounding effects, such as headaches or muscle cramps often associated with exercise.

2) Sweat Is Sexy.

Working out in a heated room makes your heart work harder, thus raising your metabolism. *Bonus for infrared heat, like we have at Hot Pilates* A higher metabolic rate increases fat and caloric burn, and speeds up the rate of cell breakdown and rejuvenation. Your body releases heat through sweat, which comes from blood pumped to your skin. The hotter your body gets, the more blood your heart needs to pump to expel that heat.

3) Focus On Core.

All movements should be initiated from your core for optimal efficiency. In Pilates we focus on engaging the core and initiating all movement (exercise or otherwise) from your core in order to prevent injury. What we engage, we strengthen. Practice engaging your core while exercising, as well as everyday moments - like sitting in traffic, or while at your desk working.

4) Don't Forget to Stretch!

Flexibility is key for longevity. You must warm up prior to exerting your body, and must stretch deeply to maintain an effective workout.

5) Commit to Moving Your Body Everyday.

I do something active everyday while incorporating all of the elements listed above, and advise all of my clients to do the same. I understand we don’t always have time to get into a class or the gym, so I've created a series of efficient workouts for on-the-go that require little to no equipment.
